On June 16, 1903 the Ford Motor Company was born. Founder, Henry Ford, was on the forefront of modern engineering and mass production making cars available beyond the circles of the elite. Within the first few years of production the first Ford model T's came in only four colors: grey, green, blue and red. But when 1914 came to pass and the world's eyes turned to Europe, manufacturing cars in a range of colors became superfluous. Around this time, Ford's famous quote surfaced and became the motto for the next generation of Ford cars:
"Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black"
I, on the other hand, love black out of versatility rather than necessity. It's a staple that will withstand any test of time or coming and going of fads. And when I say that more than half my closet is black, I'm not joking. Perhaps I've unknowingly taken Henry Ford's motto to heart when I'm scanning the racks for a new outfit. Because of course I'll try that dress on in any color, so long as it's black.
