Oregon - the love of my life, childhood home and temperamental mistress of the Pacific Northwest. One second it can be sunny and warm and the next you're running for cover from the rain. If you've ever lived somewhere as gloomy as Oregon you know that when a beautiful day comes along you need to take full advantage of it. This day in particular happened to be extraordinarily beautiful. The sky, the trees, the view all seemed to come alive under the warm sunlight and we were lucky just to be spectators to such an unbelievable view.
I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery - air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, "This is what it is to be happy."
- Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
